New adventure awaits – The Isle of Valesk

People that know me well understand that I am a story teller, a writer, a weaver of fantasy all rolled into one. Not only do I crave seeing the written word, I often times find myself in a panic when I am unable to put my own thoughts on paper. I’ve often been told that with my affinity for writing and spinning stories, I should consider RP’ing, but I’ve just never found a community that seemed to match; I simply don’t fit in. Maybe I also had a bit of fear, no one likes to feel like an outsider, and for me that fear has nearly paralyzed me. This has recently changed, well, is starting to change. My words are my most intimate parts of my being and I’m embarking on a new adventure to share them. That’s where The Isle of Valesk comes in. My friends, you won’t believe the amazing world that has been created by some utterly brilliant and creative minds. Not only is the scenery something out of a magical story book, but the thought and imagination that has gone into the creation is beyond words. The back story that has been crafted has made me excited to explore, to experience and to contribute to the continued growth of the community.

“A feat of ancient sorcery: The island of Valesk is the husk of a fallen god and from ruin was brought forth from the deep seas, it is the place where the first mortal became immortal by the feat of ascendancy. Also known as The Wayfarer or The Pilgrim Island, the mass of land seemingly drifts as if carried by the wind which makes it’s location from season to season nearly impossible to pinpoint, only beaching near certain mainlands depending on the time of year and sea currents…”

“Due to it’s resemblance to a ship left astray, the island has become a mecca for trade and any merchant lucky enough to anchor in it’s harbor. Surely, rarities of the finest kind shall be found within the caverns and waterways of Valesk, should a merchant or explorer only look hard enough…The history of this island is vague. Not much is currently documented about it in the world other than whispers of it’s origins. Due to its roaming status, the Isle has eluded many until recently and only now are there records of it’s existence.”

That’s just the beginning! This enchanting location allows beginners and experts to role play their dreams; crafting characters and creating their own story lines. There are laws and rules that all who visit the land must abide by, and amazing Storyweavers that push plots and story lines forward, creating an utterly fantastic experience for all those participating. As a virgin to RP, the thought of starting out does seem daunting, but that’s also been covered by these brilliant minds, with the inclusion of a Beginners Guide to Role Play. I’ve spent quite a bit of time reading over this and I have to say it’s helped me a lot. My trepidation was certainly lessened and by even having this available, I quickly realized that everyone who wants to give RP a try is welcome. Do I sound a bit excited? *laughs*.

There are a plethora of races to play within The Isle of Valesk, however there are a set of common races to choose from. These races were among the first settlers of the Isle and have found favor with the Goddess, receiving gifts bestowed upon them. There are also character traits that makes up a characters mentally and physically. Each character will have a different number of the available traits depending the character, themselves. The system is made to be very broad and left to the imagination. While two individuals might pick fighting, one may be trained in martial arts or hand to hand while the other a master swordsman, yet, still the trait is used all the same. And if that weren’t enough, in comes the combat system, which use a Dice HUD that works with the character trait system. The attention to detail in the set up and creation of the entire world is astonishing and I haven’t even scratched the surface!

After roaming the lands, I can personally see what this location stands out and attracts people to make it their home away from home. Not only are the scenery and areas masterfully crafted, the unique combat system, paragraph roleplay, friendly admin team, open, encouraging and welcoming environment are far beyond anything I ever expected.

I adored the adventure and the location so much, I simply had to blog there. As a person who has visited many many sims, this one was possibly the most enjoyable I’ve ever encountered. I was pleasantly greeted when I arrived and as I walked around, I simply smiled. I think I’ve found my new favourite place, which is totally perfect since I’m decided to blog two of my favourite designers while visiting.
